Rhinebeck Violet
Botanical Design for Places of Retreat
Place-based interiors, objects, and guest experiences inspired by Rhinebeck’s lost violet fields and the natural beauty of the Hudson Valley.
Explore Our WorkA Sense of Place
Design that gives a space a story.
Rhinebeck Violet creates botanical design concepts for hospitality, spa, retreat, and private-house environments.
Inspired by Rhinebeck’s forgotten violet-growing history, old houses, garden rooms, handwritten correspondence, and the quiet beauty of the Hudson Valley, our work helps spaces feel more local, more memorable, and more deeply connected to the landscape around them.
We bring together botanical art, archival storytelling, books, correspondence, refined objects, color, textiles, and atmosphere. The result is not decoration alone, but a distinctive experience of place.
“Luxury becomes more meaningful when it belongs to the place in which it is found.”

Why Rhinebeck Violet
More than a beautiful room
Many luxury spaces are visually polished. Far fewer feel inseparable from the place in which they exist.
Rhinebeck Violet begins with local history, landscape, atmosphere, and memory. We translate those elements into rooms and objects that feel specific to the Hudson Valley rather than imported from a generic luxury vocabulary.
Rhinebeck’s violet heritage gives hotels, spas, retreats, and private houses a story that can be experienced through art, paper, books, objects, color, and ritual.

The Studio Behind the Work
Design rooted in place
As Founder, Chief Designer, and Creative Director, Melisca defines the visual language of Rhinebeck Violet and leads each project from its earliest concept through its final expression. Her multidisciplinary practice spans interiors, retail environments, gardens, objects, branding, and experience design.
After leaving New York City for Rhinebeck to devote more time to her artwork, she became captivated by the region’s forgotten violet-growing history. Rhinebeck Violet emerged from that meeting of creative practice, local memory, and a profound sense of place.
The studio considers not only how an environment looks, but how it feels to inhabit. Materials, botanical references, local stories, objects, and sensory details are brought together to create spaces that invite attention, restoration, and a more intimate relationship with their surroundings.
The result is work that feels visually distinctive, deeply rooted, and memorable long after a guest has left.
